Jai
Grewal, M.D., is a Neuro-Oncologist who specializes
in the management of primary brain and spine tumors,
Central Nervous System metastases, and neurological complications
of cancer. He received his undergraduate degree from
Boston University, and his medical degree from Spartan
Health Sciences University.
Dr. Grewal completed his internal medicine internship
at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut, which is
affiliated with Yale University. He then performed
a residency in neurology at the University of Texas,
Southwestern. Subsequently Dr. Grewal completed a neuro-oncology
fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston,
Texas.
His research has involved a study of the correlation
of estrogen, progesterone and Her2/neu receptor status
with survival in breast cancer patients with leptomeningeal
metastasis. Dr. Grewal participated in designing and
writing several clinical protocols addressing radiation
necrosis and venous thromboembolism in patients with
primary brain tumors.
As a Research Assistant at Children’s Hospital,
Dept. of Neuroscience, Harvard Medical School, Dr.
Grewal elucidated in vitro mechanisms of embryonic
radial glial cell and astrocyte differentiation in
mice. He also studied in vivo apoptotic mechanisms
of neuronal degeneration.
Dr. Grewal is board-certified by the American Board
of Psychiatry and Neurology. He was the recipient of
the Teva Neuroscience Award for his achievement in
neuroanatomy.
Dr. Grewal is fluent in Spanish.
